Dear Duc, I hope you are well and enjoying the holiday at your grandparents' house. I am writing to tell you about my new part-time job, because I know you are also looking for work this summer. Three weeks ago I saw a vacancy at a small cafe near my university, so I wrote an application letter and attended an interview the next day. The manager, who is only thirty, asked me whether I had any relevant experience, and I explained that I once waited on tables at my uncle's restaurant. She smiled and offered me the job, although she warned that the work could be challenging. She was right, because the cafe is crowded at lunchtime and I never stop moving until my shift ends. I work four afternoons a week, which is flexible enough to fit around my classes. The wage is not high, but the tips are good, and there is a small bonus if we stay open late. Some tasks, such as washing cups, are repetitive, yet I find the job rewarding because customers often thank me and remember my name. My friend Hung, on the other hand, took an unpaid position in an office, and he says it is much more stressful than mine. He sits at a computer from nine to five, and nobody explains what he should do. I prefer learning on the job, since I can see the results of my work at once. My cousin, who has a well-paid job in a bank, works overtime every week, but he looks tired all the time. In my opinion, a good job is not only about money; it should also give you energy and time for your family.
