Last Friday, a conservation officer told an audience of students that biodiversity in the region had fallen sharply in the last twenty years. Some people doubt that young volunteers can make a real difference to such a serious environmental problem. The officer disagreed, saying that small actions had often led to the biggest changes in history. He ended the talk by reminding everyone that a healthy planet was the most valuable gift for future generations.
